HOLLYWOOD dreamer Julia Clarete wants to be taken seriously as a singer and songwriter. With the release of her debut album under Ivory Music, this is bound to happen.
The song which inspired Ivory executives into signing her up to a contract is entitled Bumalik Ka Lang.
It was by accident that Ivory bigwigs discovered that Julia can sing. The song was featured when her life story was dramatized in Magpakailanman. They liked the simplicity of the ditty and the message it contains. It was described as an inspiring composition • and were they surprised upon discovering that it was Julia herself who wrote the song.
Julia admits that the song was based on a personal tragedy which happened to someone she loved.
“I wrote the song while getting through a difficult time in my life,” she revealed.
There are two other songs in the album which was composed by Julia: You Are and Uhaw. The former is a mellow tune, an ode to a loved one. The other song is a slow burner of a rock tune.
The album identifies Julia in a lot of ways.
The ballads and pop tunes have been part of Julia’s growing-up years. A major reworking turns the classic Bato Sa Buhangin into a guitar-driven rock number.
The album also contains six covers that Julia considers among her favorites. Be delighted once more by Bryan Adams’ When You Love Someone, Walking On Sunshine, and the Fifth Dimension’s For Once In My Life.
