Julia realizes dream album
July 24, 2006-tempo
YOUNG actress and TV host Julia Clarete’s talent is brought to the fore once again and this time as singer and songwriter via Ivory Music’s release of her first full-length album entitled "Bumalik Ka Lang."
People familiar with Julia Clarete have always seen her sing on some of the TV shows that she appears on but this time she takes it on a more serious and professional level. Her first album for Ivory Music features the single "Bumalik Ka Lang" which was written and composed by Julia herself. "Bumalik Ka Lang" was actually one of two songs that Julia sung for Ivory Music execs during the first few meetings before she signed on to do an album. Impressed by Julia’s assured singing when she first presented the song, one Ivory Music exec had this to say: "she (Julia) has obviously internalized "Bumalik Ka Lang" to the point that no matter how bare the song is, whether she plays it on a lone acoustic guitar or in its full-on version, you’ll still be able to feel where she’s coming from."
The song was inspired by Julia’s personal experience. "I wrote this song some time ago," says Julia, "obviously from a time in my life where I was really vulnerable, and writing this song helped me get through that difficult time in my life." Since going thru that "difficult" time, Julia has gotten her second wind as an artist and has even won a high profile acting gig that has further brightened her career prospects.
The album also includes two other Clarete penned songs namely, "You Are" and "Uhaw," the former a very mellow ode to a loved one and the other a slow burner of a rock tune. Though it is with "Bumalik Ka Lang" that really defines where Julia is currently in her life. Julia refers to album cuts such as "Simply" in which she covers with such aplomb and "Bato sa Buhangin" which gets a major re-working, turning this OPM classic into a guitar driven rock number. The album also includes Bryan Adams’ "When You Love Someone," Katrina and The Waves’ "Walking On Sunshine" and the 5th Dimension’s "For Once in My Life."
