Julia Clarete lets her talent sparkle anew

Remember Julia Clarete who was hailed as Hollywood Dream's ultimate champion after a close fight with fellow finalist Raymond Bagatsing late last year on the farewell episode of the six-month reality show/talent search on Philippines' local network ABC-5?
In that competition, Julia won by a single vote, earning four nods from the seven Hollywood judges. All seven casting directors and producers agreed Raymond and Julia performed excellently during the auditions. The decision went down to marketability and Julia's distinct Asian look (even compared to Ziyi Zhang) plus her relative youth earned her the victory.
Well, the young actress and TV host's talent is brought to the fore once again and this time as singer and songwriter via Ivory Music's release of her first full-length album entitled "Bumalik Ka Lang." The song was inspired by Julia's personal experience. "I wrote this song some time ago," says Julia, "obviously from a time in my life where I was really vulnerable, and writing this song helped me get through that difficult time in my life."
People familiar with Julia have always seen her sing on some of the TV shows that she appears on but this time she takes it on a more serious and professional level, writing and composing the album's featured single, "Bumalik Ka Lang," herself. And it was actually one of two songs that Julia sung for Ivory Music execs during the first few meetings before she signed on to do an album.
Impressed by Julia's assured singing when she first presented the song, one Ivory Music exec had this to say: "She (Julia) has obviously internalised "Bumalik Ka Lang" to the point that no matter how bare the song is, whether she plays it on a lone acoustic guitar or in its full-on version, you'll still be able to feel where she's coming from."
The album also includes two other Clarete-penned songs namely, "You Are" and "Uhaw," the former a very mellow ode to a loved one and the other a slow burner of a rock tune.
